Trait-based spatial-temporal dynamics contrasting river and lake pelagic food webs: A data-modelling approach
Short Description of the Research Project:
The research investigates how plankton biodiversity shapes ecosystem functioning and climate resilience in large rivers (the Danube River) and adjacent oxbow lakes.
It will combine long-term monitoring, high-resolution field data, and advanced trait-based ecosystem models to link biodiversity with ecosystem processes. The findings will forecast the impacts of warming and eutrophication and provide tools for sustainable freshwater management across river–lake systems.
