Range of our activities according to the deed of foundation:

- Theoretical research and direct observations aimed at understanding the solid Earth and its surroundings (Earth’s internal structure and processes, its fields, Sun-Earth relations);
- Development of scientific methods, instruments, measuring techniques and information systems;
- Support for other institutes/organizations to solve geodetic and geophysical problems;
- Continuous observations, data processing, international and national data service (seismology, geomagnetism, aeronomy, geodynamics);
- Participation in the work and special programs of international organizations, fulfilment of duties in research and science policy associated with the international liabilities of Hungary;
- Publication of scientific results, teaching, knowledge transfer towards the citizens of Hungary, organization of scientific conferences, meetings and workshops.
