Decoding Stellar Pulsations and Galactic Assembly with RR Lyrae Stars in the LSST era

Short Description of the Research Project:

How did the Milky Way form? Ancient pulsating stars called RR Lyrae are among the oldest witnesses of its evolution, acting as precise cosmic clocks that trace our Galaxy's assembly across billions of years. Using the Vera Rubin Observatory's Legacy Survey of Space and Time, I will push our map of the Galactic halo far beyond current limits to reveal how our Galaxy assembled and decode how stellar chemistry governs their intriguing pulsation properties.
